First Visit

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your first visit gives us an opportunity to learn about your concerns, assess your smile and discuss whether orthodontic treatment may be appropriate.

Bright treatment room ready for a first visit

During the appointment, our team may:

  • Review your dental and medical history

  • Discuss your smile and bite concerns

  • Examine your teeth, jaws and facial development

  • Collect photographs, digital scans or other diagnostic records

  • Explain potential treatment options

  • Review recommended next steps

Treatment does not always begin at the first visit. Our goal is to provide clear information so you can make an informed decision about care.

Loose Bracket or Appliance

Contact our office for guidance. Avoid pulling or removing any part of the appliance unless instructed.

Irritating Wire

Orthodontic wax may provide temporary relief. Contact the practice if the wire continues to cause discomfort.

Lost or Damaged Aligner

Contact our team before moving to another aligner or returning to a previous set.

Significant Pain or Swelling

Contact the practice promptly. For severe swelling, difficulty breathing, uncontrolled bleeding or a serious facial injury, seek immediate medical or emergency dental care.

Rewards Program

Celebrate Healthy Habits Throughout Treatment

The Patient Rewards Program adds a fun and engaging element to the orthodontic experience.

Patients may earn points for positive habits and participation, such as:

  • Maintaining good oral hygiene
  • Following treatment instructions
  • Wearing appliances as directed
  • Arriving prepared for appointments
  • Participating in approved practice activities

Points can be managed through the Patient Rewards Hub according to the program rules established by the practice.

Note for reviewDr. Ho explained that the platform is an existing part of the patient experience and is also used to collect internal patient feedback.
